Socrates on the Body

A quote from Socrates that transfixed me.

For the majority of my life I had been unhealthy, to put it politely, and suffering from a plethora of personal ailments, not of the clinical category but rather the interpersonal.

Only within the past few years did I gain satisfaction with my body through much persisted effort, and during that transformative period I'd found that much of the problems that I thought were of mental origin were indeed the manifestation of my very body's dissatisfaction with it's state -to put it metaphorically; suddenly I'd come to a staggering truth: much suffering is the body's and not the mind's.

Thus, the body's health is no mere triviality and mental abstractions do not override the body's actively sought health.
The Arab proverb goes: The sound mind inhabits the sound body
العقل السليم في الجسم السليم.
